Assistive Technology

Every Northwest Regional Library System location now has a designated computer with access to Fusion software (which includes both JAWS and ZoomText) and a PEARL Camera. JAWS is a computer screen reader using synthesized speech for individuals who are blind and visually impaired. ZoomText Magnifier/Reader is a fully integrated magnification and read aloud program tailored for low-vision users. The PEARL camera can be used with the JAWS software to allow blind and low vision users instant access to printed materials. The camera will snap a photograph of the print reading material and then read it aloud using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities.
